Abstract
This study aims to develop a construct that can examine the relationship between patriarchal culture and interest in entrepreneurship. Does patriarchal culture hinder or encourage women to enter the world of entrepreneurship? Facts in the field so far, the participation of women in the business world is still lagging behind that of men. It is important to study whether it is because the Indonesian people generally adhere to a Patriarchal Culture. Patriarchal culture positions men higher than women. Men play a role in making money to support their families, and women are positioned to control family finances. This study involved 188 students of the Faculty of Economics, Unimed, who had taken Entrepreneurship courses. Data is taken online via google form. This study employed factor analysis (principal component analysis). The research findings from 13 statement instruments obtained two constructs/dimensions. Statements 1 to 10 build the construct/dimension of ^male dominance in the family,^ and statements 11-13 create the construct/dimension of ^male superiority over women.^ The results of this study provide a theoretical contribution to future research to examine the relationship between patriarchal culture and interest in entrepreneurship.
