Abstract
MSMEs are sectors that have been tested in times of crisis. The government hopes that SMEs will be able to boost economic growth. The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of SMEs in Medan Denai District. Data used- SME business licenses, number of workers, education level, wages, gender, job training and production technology, as well as data from relevant agencies. The results of data analysis describe micro-enterprises having the least number of business licenses- small business has the longest business age- medium-sized enterprises have the largest number of workers- small businesses have a workforce that has the highest level of education- medium-sized business workers receive a salary according to the minimum wage- female workers are in the small business sector, while men are mostly in the micro business sector- the most micro-enterprise workers attend training- Traditional technology is mostly carried out by the micro-enterprise sector
