Abstract

The aim of the research is to explore students^ creative thinking abilities on the topic of Fluid Dynamics. This quantitative research with a survey design involved 94 class XII students at a public high school in Malang, Indonesia. This research uses a Creative Thinking Test instrument in the form of 9 essay questions with a Cronbach^s Alpha reliability of 0.702 (high). The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics followed by ranking classification based on the Fluid Dynamics subtopic and each indicator of students^ creative thinking. The survey results showed that the students^ creative thinking ability scores were in the low category, both in fluid dynamic material and in the sub-material of Toricelli^s theorem, the venturi effect, and aircraft lift force. Nor. Other results show that on the fluency and elaboration indicators students have been able to reach the medium category, but on the flexibility and originality indicators they are only in the low category. Further analysis shows that the score distribution is dominated by low scores. This is because students find it difficult to provide varied answers and develop their imagination abilities so that the creative aspect does not grow optimally. Therefore, the ability to imagine real life problems should be emphasized in learning, for example through a project-based learning model integrated with STEAM, students will be given the freedom to think and explore according to the understanding and experience they have gained.
