The law is Law No. 18 of 2017 on the protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PPMI), which is a refinement of the previous law. This law regulates various aspects of protection for migrant workers, from the recruitment process, training, placement, to legal protection while working abroad. The law aims to ensure the rights of migrant workers are protected and prevent exploitation and abuse. However, it is true that the main challenges lie in often inconsistent law enforcement and weak oversight. Here are some ways to solve this problem: Strengthening law enforcement and supervision institutions: improving the capacity and capabilities of institutions involved in the supervision and protection of migrant workers, such as BP2MI (Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency) and the Manpower office at the central and regional levels.
