MSMEs are motivated to adopt environmentally conscious production techniques, such as reducing waste and maximizing energy efficiency. This helps create products that are more appealing to eco-conscious consumers, aligning with green economy principles. The study highlights the importance of collaborations between MSMEs and organizations dedicated to sustainable business practices. These partnerships can take the form of participation in green business networks or alliances with research institutions, fostering innovation and sustainable development. Logically linked to the green economy as they promote both environmental and economic sustainability, aligning business growth with ecological well-being and aligning with the green economy^s objectives of sustainable production, collaborative innovation, and eco-friendly consumer engagement.
What are the limitations in this study that might affect the generalizability of the
results for MSMEs outside of the leading sectors in Semarang?
Replies:
Okey, Thank You sir.
Limitations in my reseach,
The research focuses on MSMEs within specific leading sectors (culinary, fashion, etc.), which have distinctive characteristics and market conditions. This may limit the applicability of the results to other sectors where factors influencing financial performance might differ significantly. Since the study is confined to Semarang City, its findings may not fully translate to MSMEs in other regions. Different cities or regions may have varying economic dynamics, regulatory environments, and consumer behaviors that can affect the relevance of intellectual capital to financial performance. The study included only MSMEs with complete financial statements, potentially excluding informal or smaller businesses that may lack comprehensive financial records. Such businesses might experience different influences on financial performance, especially in sectors with less formalized financial practices.
This research is interesting, but it is necessary to explain in detail the sample selection
criteria used to ensure that the sample selected is a representative sample, and
whether the research variable indicators have been tested for validity and reliability?
Replies:
The research targeted micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Semarang City, specifically within prominent sectors like culinary, fashion, and other leading areas. These sectors were chosen based on their relevance to the green economy and their importance in the local economy. The sample was selected using non-probability purposive sampling, focusing on business owners and managers who meet specific criteria, including having complete financial statements and a workforce size between five and seven employees.
While validity and reliability testing
Validity: The study employed outer loadings and the Average Variance Extracted (AVE) as criteria for validity. Indicators with loading values above 0.70 were considered valid. An AVE above 0.50 was also required to confirm validity, although indicators with loadings between 0.40 and 0.70 could be retained if they still contributed to a valid AVE.
Reliability: Construct reliability was assessed using Cronbach^s Alpha and Composite Reliability values. For reliability, both metrics needed to exceed the threshold of 0.70. The results indicated that while some variables met the Composite Reliability threshold, none met the Cronbach^s Alpha requirement. Despite this, the study continued with indicators deemed suitable based on the outer loading and AVE values
