Abstract

Regional expansion as a manifestation of regional autonomy is considered the right solution to accelerate development and improve welfare in the region, but it has become a forerunner of competition between local political actors in bringing their interests. The process of expansion of West Sulawesi Province from South Sulawesi was coloured by various problems, the issue of the struggle for the provincial capital became a trigger for conflict between regions that each claimed to be worthy of being the capital of West Sulawesi Province. This research aims to describe and analyse the Interaction between local political actors in the division of West Sulawesi Province. The author uses the actor nerwork theory. This research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The results showed two things: First, there was interaction for power between local political actors from Polmas, Majene and Mamuju districts in the West Sulawesi expansion process. Dynamics occur at the level of executive actors, legislators, expansion fighters, communities and students. Second, the birth of a political contract became an absolute agreement, namely, Polmas Regency as the head of government (Governor), Majene as the education service centre and Mamuju as the provincial capital.
