Abstract
Pedestrian facilities must meet the needs of pedestrians, particularly in terms of accessibility, convenience, and safety aspects. The availability of adequate pedestrian facilities is a priority for a city to become walkable. A walkable city, as a main policy, can improve the health of residents and reduce traffic congestion. Pedestrian facilities in Cimahi are generally established in the city center, particularly in the Cimahi City Square area. Walkability is the interaction between pedestrian facilities and the overall support for the pedestrian environment. This study aims to assess walkability in the Cimahi City Square area using the Tools for Walkable City (TWC) method developed by the Institute for Transport and Development Policy (ITDP). There were 35 indicators evaluated in the walkability assessment using the TWC method. The survey locations were pedestrian facilities in the Cimahi City Square area, specifically in the following segments: (1) West Square, (2) North Square, (3) East Square, and (4) South Square. Pedestrian facilities in the City Square area were chosen as the survey location because it is an attractive area for pedestrians that was recently revitalized in 2023. The analysis results indicated that pedestrian facilities in South Square and East Square had walkability index scores of 70.23 and 62.79, respectively. Meanwhile, pedestrian facilities in West Square and North Square scored 61.54 and 60.78, respectively. All surveyed segments were categorized as ^somewhat walkable^ according to Walkscore
