Abstract
For those engaged in the food industry, the use of agricultural commodities represents an effective means of enhancing the quality of their food products. Nevertheless, in the context of business, food businesses are still required to dedicate time and resources to the preparation and sourcing of commodities such as coconut and its derivatives, which ultimately impacts the efficiency with which food products are provided. This consequently results in a longer provision of food. Furthermore, the government, particularly the Kauditan area of North Minahasa, Manado City, Indonesia, is seeking solutions to facilitate the accelerated penetration of superior agricultural products, such as coconut, into the local business sector. This optimisation is due to the fact that farmers continue to utilise the traditional method of selling agricultural products to pre-existing purchasers. In this model, if a prospective buyer expresses interest, they are immediately designated as a consumer. The objective of this research is to develop a geographic information system concept for superior coconut commodities, which will provide a mapping of commodity distribution, prices and information related to farmers, particularly in the Kauditan area, who sell these commodities. It will also include commodity purchase recommendations for business people. The research method employed is the Rapid Application Development Method (RAD). This method is an appropriate research method for the production of a specific product. The development model comprises several stages, namely requirement planning, user design, construction and cutover. The proposed concept will have the advantage of utilising a geographic data reference specifically for the Kauditan area, which will form the basis of superior commodity mapping data. This data will then be used as the foundation for an information and recommendation system for ordering commodities for business people. It is anticipated that the concept will subse
