Abstract
The development paradigm in many countries around the world is now more oriented towards the development of the service and industrial sectors, including the tourism industry. The tourism sector plays a crucial role in the economy, both nationally and locally. In Indonesia, the tourism sector has a significant contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This study discusses the various contributions of the tourism sector to the national economy and the extent of its impact. This research uses a descriptive analysis approach. Based on the literature study conducted, it is known that the growth of the tourism sector has a positive impact on economic growth. This sector contributes to national economic growth through employment creation- foreign exchange earnings- investment growth, both foreign and domestic- increasing state revenue, both tax and non-tax income- economic distribution, encouraging regional economic growth, and promoting infrastructure development.
