Analysis of the Computer Based Test (CBT) Application of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis using the SUS method

Abstract

New student selection at Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis (Polbeng) uses the Computer Based Test (CBT) application to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the selection process. Evaluation of the usability of the application is important to ensure that users, both prospective students and selection committees, can use it easily and effectively. This study aims to analyze the level of usability of the Polbeng new student selection CBT application using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method. The SUS method was chosen because of its simplicity and ability to provide fast and measurable results. Data were collected by distributing SUS questionnaires to 498 respondents consisting of prospective new students and selection committees who had used the CBT application. The results of the analysis showed that the SUS score of the Polbeng CBT application was 73, which is included in the Good category. Although this application is generally well received, several aspects such as responsiveness and ease of navigation still need improvement. Recommendations for improving the quality of the application are given based on user feedback, with the hope of increasing satisfaction and effectiveness of the application in the new student selection process at Polbeng.
