Abstract

In this paper, we would like to discuss how to assess the performance of the main engine test during the sea trial based on the performance stated in the technical data. Raw data is measured and recorded during sea trial that reflect to the parameters of main engine performance. However, the raw data still need to be managed in order to get the information about the condition of engine performance. To conclude whether the ships sea trial results meet the performance standards stated in the engine technical data or engine certificate, the raw data needs to be converted into performance graphs with engine performance according to the technical data standards. From this comparison, the deviation between the performance of the sea trial test results and its specification standards can be seen. The results of this work can help ship surveyors assess the comparative performance of the main engine based on the results of ship sea trial measurements
