Abstract

In the electricity system, the efficient use of electricity is one of the important aspects of energy management that focuses on the optimal use of electrical energy to reduce energy waste and improve system performance efficiency. Good efficiency in the use of electricity can provide many benefits including reduced operating costs, increased reliability of the electricity system, and increased company productivity. This research discusses the study of capacitor multitude installation for power factor improvement located at PT Pupuk Kalitm, Bontang city, East Kalimantan province. The power system will be installed capacitor multitude as an effort to improve the power factor. This equipment is expected to be able to make an increase in cos phi on the factory 7 power grid. The results of this research show reactive power of 460.13 kvar to increase cos phi which was originally 0.87 to 0.97. The simulation results obtained are the cos phi value of 0.8 and after the installation of the capacitor multitude rises to 0.97. The delta circuit has a lower current value than the star circuit.
