Square Diagonal Slit Array Microstrip Antenna to Support The 5th Generation Telecommunications Industry in Indonesia Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya Abstract This paper presents the design and realization a square diagonal slit array microstrip antenna with 4x4 elements operates on a frequency of 2.3 GHz, to be exact at 2.345 GHz for 5G communication in Indonesia. Antenna material use: PCB FR-4 Epoxy, in which there is a dielectric substrate with dielectric constant (ε-r = 4.75, tan = 0.02), height h = 1.6 mm. This antenna is designed to have a gain greater than 5 dBi. In the antenna design study, the first is one element microstrip patch antenna design, then a 2x2 array elements, and then a 4x4 array elements. The finally result, the antenna gain is 7.14 dBi. The antenna simulation design process using CST Microwave Studio. Based on the design results above, the microstrip square patch array antenna with 4x4 elements is fabricated into a prototype and its characteristic size in the anechoic space. Then measurement results are analyzed and compared with simulation results. Based on the results of the simulation design square microstrip patch array antenna with 4x4 elements for center frequency of 2.345 GHz, it is found that S11 of -16.40 dB or 1.36 VSWR with 54.6 MHz bandwidth, and gain of 7.14 dBi. Meanwhile, from the measurement results from the prototype of antenna obtained S11 of -14.85 dB or VSWR 1.62 with a bandwidth of 67.5 MHz, and a gain of 6.86 dBi. This antenna is expected to be used as a alternative antenna for 5G communication in Indonesia at 2.3 GHz (S band) with gain above 5 dBi.
