Entrepreneurial Orientation and Entrepreneurial Leadership Influence on Performance Through Individual Competence

Abstract

Objective -This study aims to examine the effect of entrepreneurial leadership and entrepreneurial orientation on performance through competence of bakery businesses in Surakarta, Indonesia. Design Using a cross-sectional design, the authors collected data from 150 bakery employees in Surakarta who were registered under. Quantitative data were collected through structured interviews from March to April 2022. The findings revealed that Entrepreneururial Orientation and Entrepreneurial Leadership have a positive and significant effect on competence, Entrepreneururial Orientation and Entrepreneurial Leadership have a positive and significant effect on performance, Job competence has a positive and significant effect on performance, and Entrepreneururial Orientation and Entrepreneurial Leadership have a positive and significant effect on performance through competence. The study recommends the underlying organization to pay attention to enhancing creativity and innovation, proactivity, autonomy and entrepreneurial competence among entrepreneurs through useful policies and training programs, which are expected to improve business performance and encourage entrepreneurial orientation. The originality of this research has implications in theory and practice. The results provide an empirical skills-based framework on entrepreneurial leadership in developing countries.
