ANALYSIS OF LIQUIFACTION POTENTIAL INDEX (LPI) IN MEDAN TUNTANGAN SUB DISTRICT USING A SIMPLIFIED PROSEDUR BASED ON STANDARD PENETRATION TEST (SPT) DATA (a)Department of building engineering education, faculty of engineering, Universitas Negeri Medan, Medan, Indonesia Abstract Liquefaction is the effect of an earthquake which results in a decrease in the shear strength of the soil due to an increase in pore water and a reduction in effective stress. Earthquake data shows that earthquakes have occurred around the study area. From the geological map of the Medan sheet, there are faults which are the source of the earthquake that have not been properly identified but an earthquake has occurred and the cause of the fault is active or inactive. The purpose of this research is to assess the Liquefaction Potential Index regionally. Analysis method with simplified procedure. Location study is in the district of Medan Tuntungan. The results showed that the soil layer consisted of silty loam sand, fine sand, and coarse sand. The depth of the groundwater level is 0.5 to 3.2 meters. The regional liquefaction potential is low to very high for an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 and high to very high for an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 Keywords: liquefaction, earthquake, index, region, SPT Topic: Applied Sciences-Computers and Engineering |
