Improving Concrete Performance on Water Sensitivity by Adding Contaminated Waste Material Universitas Negeri Medan Abstract The high demand on reutilization of the waste material from port dredging work has been an issue for the last 10 years. Previous researches on re-using this waste material on concrete technology is rarely found. The paper covers the impact of waste Port material on improving concrete performance on extreme condition especially on water sensitivity. Various experimental test result identifies that the main characteristics (physical, mineralogical and chemical) of waste material is acceptable to be added in concrete mixture. The amount of waste material added on the concrete mixture is divided on various quantity (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%). Experimental study result shows the amount of 15% waste addition is the best formulation for Unconfined Compressive Strength. Wet-dry test discovers the best amount on improving water sensitivity of concrete is 10% amount of waste material. Nevertheless the mixture of 5% amount of waste material is proved to have the best resistance on acidic attack Keywords: Contaminated Waste material, concrete material, water sensitivity, Unconfined compressive strength, Topic: Applied Sciences-Computers and Engineering |
