Abstract

The goal of this research was to analyze the needs for developing android-based learning material in the Appraisal course. This is a descriptive exploratory study. Students in the Diploma IV Finance study program in the Accounting Department at the State Polytechnic of Malang, class of 2017, were the subjects of this research. A total of 39 students were randomly selected for the sample. Data were collected by means of observation during the learning process and distributing questionnaires to students. The findings of the observations demonstrate that the learning materials for the Appraisal course still rely on slides presentation/ power point media and handbooks/texts that are given both face-to-face and through e-learning. According to the results of the needs questionnaire analysis reveals that students need learning media that can guide them to be able to learn independently by repeating lessons anytime and anywhere in the form of applications that can be accessed using Android-based mobile phones.
